Volunteer with Terebinth

Volunteering at Terebinth Refuge offers an opportunity to directly support individuals in their journey to recovery and empowerment. Your time and effort can make a meaningful difference in providing safety, resources, and compassionate care to those who have experienced exploitation.

We are continually looking for individuals who are willing to volunteer their time and talents to support our mission and increase our impact.

Here are a few of the current volunteer opportunities we have available:

Prayer Support

From your home, you can offer prayer for the women in our program, our staff, and the success of our mission. This vital support strengthens our efforts and brings hope and healing to all involved.

Administrative Assistance

If you enjoy organizational work, consider volunteering at the Terebinth office or lending a hand at our events. This role might include assisting office staff, organizing resources, and helping to coordinate outreach efforts.

Maintenance Person

Use your skills to support our physical spaces! We welcome help with maintenance and repair projects in our homes and office, providing a comfortable and safe environment for our women.

Resident Support

For those interested in a more hands-on role, you can lead classes that teach vital independent living skills like cooking, personal finance, or crafts. We also need volunteers to provide transportation to and from appointments, creating stability and connection for our women.

Due to the nature of our mission and the safety of the women in the program, volunteers who have direct contact with Terebinth Refuge program participants must be 19 years or older, submit an application with references, complete a volunteer orientation and training, undergo a background check, and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Other Ways to Give

We can continue to be a resource only through your help. Your compassionate hearts see the worth of each woman who comes to us for hope & healing and the need for both education and awareness on this issue in the St. Cloud area.

Volunteer opportunities include administration, independent living skills (cooking, personal finance, crafts) and transportation.

In kind donations are accepted as gifts off our Household Requests List OR as $10+ gift cards to stores.

Your generous offers impact for immediate needs and services for survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Staying aware and educated about human trafficking in your community is crucial. Understanding the signs and realities of trafficking helps identify and assist victims, potentially saving lives. An informed community can deter traffickers, support survivors, and advocate for stronger laws and resources. Ultimately, awareness and education empower communities to protect their most vulnerable members and foster a safer, more just society.

At Terebinth Refuge we classify two types of sponsors. Our general sponsors and our Church of the Month program. These donors are those who form a committed working relationship with our program.

How often do I have to volunteer? Can I just volunteer once?

For continuity of services, and because we value relationships and train our volunteers, we do ask that volunteers who work directly with Terebinth Refuge program participants serve consistently (weekly, monthly, or quarterly). However, many events or maintenance tasks can be one-off volunteer opportunities.

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

For our ongoing volunteers, you must be at least 19 years old. For transportation volunteers, you must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license and insurance.

For group activities, including donation organizers, you need to be at least 13 years of age. Those who are under age 18 must always be supervised by an adult.

Are there evening and weekend volunteer opportunities?

Yes, our volunteer opportunities can be scheduled during evening hours or on the weekends.

Do you accept court-ordered volunteers?

We do not.

Do volunteers at Terebinth Refuge need prior volunteer experience?

No. You bring your interest/skill area, and we will train you to serve alongside our women.

Does Terebinth Refuge require volunteers to go through a background check?

Absolutely. To maintain the safety and security of our residents, staff, and volunteers, a criminal background check is required as well as fingerprinting. Volunteers that serve directly with our residents must be trauma-informed, practice healthy boundaries, complete required training, sign a confidentiality agreement, undergo a background check, and fingerprinting. Terebinth Refuge provides this at no charge to you for the background check, but the cost is $44.00 so we do ask volunteers to consider donating (if they are able) $44.00 to Terebinth so that we do not take money away from programming for the women to cover these costs. The cost (approximately $10.00) of fingerprinting is the volunteer’s responsibility.

What opportunities do you have for groups?

We do have opportunities for groups of people to serve, including organizing and sorting donations, lawn care and clean-up, outside house projects, serving at fundraising events, and helping with our mailings. All group volunteer opportunities will be posted on the Terebinth Refuge website Volunteer page.

How large of a group will you accept?

That will depend primarily on the activity. We have had volunteer groups as small as 2 and as large as 15. If you have a larger group that is interested in volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss what options are available.

What is the process to become a volunteer at Terebinth Refuge?

If you are interested in volunteering at Terebinth Refuge, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form to share a bit about yourself. As needs arise, our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch.

Your generosity impacts and supports the needs and services of survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking. Together we can be the answer to this horrific problem in our community. Help us be a place where hope and healing grows.
