Legacy giving ensures that your compassion for survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking continues to make an impact—now and for generations to come. Whether through a planned gift, a bequest, or establishing a named endowment, your generosity strengthens the mission of Terebinth Refuge far into the future.
These gifts are typically made through wills, life insurance, retirement accounts, trusts, or other planned giving tools. They help sustain Terebinth Refuge’s mission while offering potential personal financial benefits, such as tax savings.
Legacy giving refers specifically to planned charitable contributions connected to:
The Terebinth Legacy Fellowship honors individuals who have named Terebinth Refuge as a beneficiary in their estate plans. These visionary supporters are recognized for their lasting impact on the future of survivors.
An endowment gift maintains your principal contribution, using only investment earnings to support Terebinth Refuge’s programs. Whether you give now or later through your estate, your legacy continues to serve survivors in perpetuity.
There are many ways to structure a legacy gift that reflects your personal values, financial goals, and desire to make a lasting impact. Whether you’re planning ahead or looking for meaningful ways to give today, these options allow you to support Terebinth Refuge while caring for your loved ones and stewarding your resources wisely.
One of the simplest and most flexible ways to give is by including a bequest to Terebinth Refuge in your will or living trust. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after other gifts are made. This allows you to leave a powerful legacy while retaining full control of your assets during your lifetime. Use of a codicil or trust amendment is a simple, less expensive way to amend a will or trust without having to rewrite the entire document.
A direct contribution of Retirement Assets (i.e., traditional IRA, 401(k) or 403(b), Simplified Employee Pension) can be a smart estate planning strategy with significant tax advantages. Unlike other assets that can be passed to heirs free of income tax, distributions from inherited retirement plans are taxable. When done properly, charitable donations of Retirement Assets can minimize the amount of income taxes imposed on both your individual heirs and your estate.
Terebinth Refuge can be named as a beneficiary of other assets such as life insurance policies, bank savings/checking accounts, Certificates of Deposits (CDS), stocks/bonds, certain types of real estate, and remainder amounts in donor-advised funds. Almost any assets can be used to help fund the future of the Terebinth ministry.
Establishing a Named Endowment Fund (NEF) is an ideal way to honor and remember a beloved family member or friend AND provide perpetual support of Terebinth Refuge programs. A NEF can be funded immediately by one or more individuals and/or as part of an estate gift.
There are several “life income” gifts options that allow an individual to make gifts today, receive payments for life, and upon passing, know your contributions will provide a lasting benefit for victims and survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Popular types of “life income” gifts are: Charitable Gift Annuity and various Charitable Remainder Trusts.

Staying aware and educated about human trafficking in your community is crucial. Understanding the signs and realities of trafficking helps identify and assist victims, potentially saving lives. An informed community can deter traffickers, support survivors, and advocate for stronger laws and resources. Ultimately, awareness and education empower communities to protect their most vulnerable members and foster a safer, more just society.

Yes. If you’d like to make a gift for someone special, we encourage you to consider Commemorative Giving, which is the overall concept of honoring the memory of a loved one through memorials or special occasions with a living tribute gift. Establishing Named Endowment Fund is another form of Commemorative Giving that would establish a more permanent legacy. Both options allow you to celebrate a loved one while making an immediate difference in the lives of survivors.
