Development & Marketing Director

Job Summary
Position: Development & Marketing Director
Reports To: Executive Director
Classification: Full-Time, Salaried + Benefits
Salary Range: $60,000–$70,000

Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director, the Development & Marketing Director leads all fundraising, donor relations, marketing, communications, and volunteer engagement efforts for Terebinth Refuge. This role is responsible for growing sustainable funding, increasing community awareness, strengthening partnerships, and overseeing the volunteer program to support the mission and long-term vision of the organization.

Key Responsibilities


Development & Fundraising

  • Develop and manage the annual fundraising and development plan.
  • Cultivate and steward donors, churches, businesses, foundations, and partners.
  • Personally solicit financial support and grow major donor and legacy giving.
  • Lead the Development Committee with the Executive Director and Board.
  • Oversee donor tracking, gift processing, acknowledgments, and reporting.

Marketing & Communications

  • Lead marketing and communications strategy.
  • Oversee annual reports, donor communications, and external messaging.
  • Collaborate with consultants and social media support.
  • Ensure survivor-centered, mission-aligned messaging.


Events & Community Engagement

  • Plan and lead fundraising and awareness events.
  • Coordinate sponsorships and donor engagement.
  • Represent Terebinth Refuge at public events and speaking engagements.


Volunteer Program Oversight

  • Manage volunteer recruitment, screening, training, and recognition.
  • Coordinate volunteer data tracking and communication.
  • Cultivate volunteers into deeper engagement and donor pathways.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve on the leadership team.
  • Partner with staff, Executive Director, and Board.
  • Uphold the mission and Christ-centered culture.


Qualifications

  • Passion for serving women affected by sexual exploitation and trafficking.
  • 3–5+ years nonprofit fundraising or development experience.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Experience with donor databases and marketing tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Hope & Healing Store Assistant

Location: Terebinth Refuge, Waite Park

Hours: Part-Time (10-15 hrs./week)

Pay: Starting $20.00/hr

Reports To: Hope & Healing Store Manager

Working in collaboration with the Hope & Healing Store Manager, the Hope & Healing Store Assistant is responsible for assisting in product production/inventory/sales and delegating tasks to the Hope & Healing Interns in accordance with the standards set out by the social enterprise policies/direction of the Store Manager.  The H & H Store Assistant will assist the Interns to attain the highest degree of success and positive change toward employment readiness.

Mission:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for knowing and carrying out the mission and purpose of Terebinth Refuge as determined by the Board of Directors.
  • Provide interns with a safe and supportive environment; through functional, healthy, appropriate boundaries and balanced relationships, which demonstrate the love of Christ. All staff are responsible for assisting in promoting a high quality of learning, skill building and self-discovery for each client.
  • Responsible for attending staff meetings, in-service workshops, continuing education to complete 20 hours yearly including CPR, and First Aid.
  • In collaboration with the Hope & Healing Store Manager, the H & H Store Assistant may assist in the hiring process. 
  • Fill store orders as needed.
  • Assist Interns to carry out the Hope & Healing Store product production.
  • Assist and coordinate the daily work of Interns, including orientation/training.
  • Communicate and keep H & H Store Manager informed in all areas of the store production including inventory/supply needs and any other challenges.
  • Ensure the Hope & Healing Store workspace remains clean and orderly daily.
  • Collaborates with Store Manager to promote creative product presentation designs, new marketing/promotional ideas and other ways to attract new customers.
  • Open/close workspace as needed.
  • Act as the lead onsite when the Store Manager is not present.
  • Attend events when the Store Manager is not present.
  • Assist in carrying out regular product inventory & maintaining general supplies.
  • Make deliveries to the office/post office when directed.
  • Order/pick-up products as directed.
  • May assist in bank deposits.
  • May deliver product to offsite locations.

 

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED. Some college or pursuit of higher education preferred.
  • Knowledge, experience, and willingness to grow in understanding of the operation of a successful small business.
  • Ability to communicate with, motivate, instruct, guide individuals who are considered at-risk, trafficked, or exploited.
  • Ability to coordinate Interns in the operations of the social enterprise program by being “firm, fair and consistent” in communication and actions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal and written methods.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem solve and make timely productive decisions.
  • Ability to motivate people and maintain functional positive working relationships with co-workers, and Interns by using strength-based approaches and modeling appropriate problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of word processing programs and Microsoft Office programs preferred.
  • Desire and ability to set personal goals to improve oneself, including a priority for self-care.

Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Director will spearhead development, fundraising and outreach efforts as Terebinth Refuge continues to grow. The Development Director will have the opportunity to build on past initiatives and utilize skills to expand the development, fundraising, outreach, and donor cultivation thus playing a critical role in fulfilling the ministry’s future goals and success.

Mission:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the annual fundraising/development plan.
  • Identify, develop and maintain ongoing relationships with existing and new major donors including individuals, businesses, foundations and churches, deepening partnerships and increasing engagement with the mission and financial support for the ministry.

  • Secure financial support through various donor cultivation, fundraising, and event opportunities, directly soliciting donors.

  • Create and implement strategies to grow donors into major donors and/or Legacy Fellowship participants while creating a profile to best tailor communication and approaches to donors.

  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Terebinth’s Board to lead the Development Committee and provide coaching and consultation to increase volunteer fundraising capacity.

  • Manage the implementation of a donor tracking process and oversee staff activities that relate to data entry, gift processing and donor communication.

  • Provide leadership to Terebinth Refuge’s overall marketing and communications strategies, overseeing the development of annual reports, and contributing to the development of all ongoing external communications.

  • Collaborate with grant writer and marketing/communications consultants, and social media support staff to develop and implement a coordinated and consistent fundraising and marketing strategy that is aligned with the mission and vision of the ministry and engages funders and donors.

  • Together with the Executive Director and Board, provide leadership and coordination of fundraising events, including solicitation of sponsorships.

  • Represent Terebinth Refuge at various speaking engagements, conferences and media events as needed to promote the mission and vision of the organization.

  • Engage as part of the leadership team in meetings and activities to ensure concise communication and alignment with staff and the Executive Director.

  • Oversee the management of the Volunteer Program in coordination with the Office Administrator and Volunteer Coordinator. Ensure volunteers receive proper screening, data tracking and training and cultivate potential donor partnerships.

  • Oversee Volunteer Recognition plans and events.

  • Connect with program staff to gather quotes and artwork and stories for use in messaging.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with church partners and businesses, providing resources to churches as needed. Coordinate and communicate “special donations” and “special requests” between program staff and churches/organizations and businesses.

  • Oversee the coordination related to basic needs drives and in-kind donors.

  • Track related data for donor cultivation/development/and event functions.

  • Maintain and update data regarding contacts, calls, meeting dates, networks, etc.

  • Ensures survivor-centered language and best practices are utilized in all events, marketing, and communications.

  • Responsible for carrying out the mission and purpose of Terebinth Refuge as determined by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Strong passion for serving women affected by commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking.

  • Outgoing, friendly, approachable person with great skills in building relationships.

  • Self-directed individual, organized, and focused on follow through.

  • Skills and experience in public speaking.

  • Proven results in successful donor relationship building and fundraising for at least a 3-5 year period.

  • Knowledge and experience in web-based strategies, social media, and donor database management.

  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication.

The Part-time Advocate develops and maintains functional relationships with the residents in an advocacy capacity, encouraging each client to attain the highest degree of success and positive change through teaching, advising, and supporting. The Part-time advocate will help meet the specialized needs of the residents and work in collaboration with and support all staff in meeting those specific needs. The part-time advocate provides trauma-informed care to support residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clients with a safe and supportive environment; through functional, healthy, appropriate boundaries and balanced relationships, which demonstrate the love of Christ. All staff are responsible for assisting in promoting a high quality of learning, skill building, and self-discovery for each client.
  • Part-time advocates are expected to monitor the house and residents, for safety on a regular basis.
  • Provide supportive resident documentation, medication administration, and all charting duties.
  • Ensure household duties such as meal prep and cleaning are completed and assigned activities are initiated.
  • Part-time Advocates are responsible for having a general knowledge of all the client’s individual case plans and goals and work to encourage and assist them in meeting those goals.
  • All staff are expected to maintain information concerning resident identification and their personal information confidential outside of the organization.
  • When fully trained and approved, part-time advocates are responsible for responding to crisis calls and completing documentation of those calls.
  • Part-time advocates are responsible for attending staff meetings, continuing education, and completing 20 hours of training yearly including CPR, First Aide, and Medication management.
  • Part-time advocates work every other weekend and/or varied shifts in the safe home directly interacting with residents and available to support residents as needed during their shift.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate professionally with, instruct, guide and support individuals who are considered at risk and traumatized.
  • Social services experience or secondary degree in a relevant Social Service field, or college courses is preferred. The 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy training is required and will be offered as part of their Terebinth Refuge training.
  • Knowledge of or experience in advocacy and or working within professions in the areas of mental health, criminal justice, and other social service systems is preferred.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care preferred, but not required. Trauma training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of word processing programs and basic Microsoft Office programs.
  • Valid Driver’s license and ability to transport residents in a TR vehicle.
  • Desire and ability to set personal goals to improve on one’s self, including a priority for self-care.

The Full-time Advocate is to develop and maintain functional relationships with the residents in an advocacy capacity, which encourages each client to attain the highest degree of success and positive change through teaching, advising, and supporting. The Full-time advocate will help meet the specialized needs of the residents and work in collaboration with and support all staff in meeting those specific needs. The full-time advocate provides trauma-informed care to support residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Full-time advocates work regular shifts in the safe home directly interacting with residents and available to support residents as needed during their shift. Full-time advocates often take on extra areas of expertise to assist in providing a high level of care and the home running smoothly. (i.e.. Activity planning, Volunteer coordination, child-care education, food planning)
  • Provide clients with a safe and supportive environment; through functional, healthy, appropriate boundaries and balanced relationships, which demonstrate the love of Christ. All staff are responsible to assist in promoting a high quality of learning, skill building and self-discovery for each client.
  • Full-time advocates are expected to monitor the house and residents, for safety on a regular basis.
  • Provide supportive resident documentation, medication administration and all charting duties.
  • Full-time Advocate are responsible for having general knowledge on all the client’s individual case plan and goals and works to encourage and assist them in meeting those goal.
  • Full-time Advocates serve as Primary Advocates and are also assigned to clients. They work collaboratively with the Case Manager with full knowledge of their assigned clients individual case plan and goals so they can directly assist and be a secondary resource for the client in meeting those goals and any specific needs of their client.
  • FT Advocates ensure household duties such as meal prep and cleaning are completed and assigned daily activities are initiated and completed.
  • All staff are expected to maintain information concerning resident identification and their personal information confidential outside of the organization.
  • Full-time advocates are responsible to respond to crisis calls and complete documentation of those calls, collaborate with others (advocates, RN, Supervisor) when assessing a potential new intake. They also facilitate new client intakes ensuring all intake procedures and documentation are completed.
  • Full-time advocates are responsible for attending staff meetings, continuing education and to complete 40 hours yearly including CPR, First Aide and Medication management.
  • Responsible for knowing and carrying out the mission and purpose of Terebinth Refuge as determined by the Board of Directors.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate professionally with, instruct, guide and support individuals who are considered at risk and traumatized.

Job Description:

The Overnight Advocate is to develop and maintain functional relationships with the residents in an advocacy capacity, which encourages each client to attain the highest degree of success and positive change through teaching, advising and supporting. The overnight advocate will help meet the specialized needs of the residents and work in collaboration with, and support day staff in meeting those specific needs. The overnight advocate provides trauma-informed care to support residents. Overnight staff assists and supports day staff by completing various administrative and household duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Overnight Advocate work overnight shifts in the safe home directly interacting with residents and is awake and available to support residents as needed during sleeping hours.
  • Provide clients with a safe and supportive environment; through functional, healthy, appropriate boundaries and balanced relationships, which demonstrate the love of Christ. All staff are responsible to assist in promoting a high quality of learning, skill building and self-discovery for each client.
  • Overnight staff are expected to monitor the house/residents, doing checks on an hourly basis.
  • Provide supportive documentation and charting duties along with occasional household duties such as meal prep and cleaning as assigned or needed.
  • Overnight Advocate is responsible for being knowledgeable on the client’s individual case plan and goals and works to encourage and assist them in meeting those goals.
  • All staff are expected to maintain strict confidentiality outside of the organization concerning any client information.

  • Knowledge of or experience in advocacy and or working with professionals in mental health, corrections, the criminal justice and other social service systems.

  • FT Advocates ensure household duties such as meal prep and cleaning are completed and assigned daily activities are initiated and completed.
  • All staff are expected to maintain information concerning resident identification and their personal information confidential outside of the organization.
  • Full-time advocates are responsible to respond to crisis calls and complete documentation of those calls, collaborate with others (advocates, RN, Supervisor) when assessing a potential new intake. They also facilitate new client intakes ensuring all intake procedures and documentation are completed.
  • Full-time advocates are responsible for attending staff meetings, continuing education and to complete 40 hours yearly including CPR, First Aide and Medication management.
  • Responsible for knowing and carrying out the mission and purpose of Terebinth Refuge as determined by the Board of Directors.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate professionally with, instruct, guide and support individuals who are considered at risk and traumatized.
  • Social services or secondary degree in a relevant field, or college courses is preferred. The 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy training is required and will be offered as part of their Terebinth Refuge training.
  • Knowledge of or experience in advocacy and or working with professionals in mental health, corrections, the criminal justice, and other social service systems is preferred.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care preferred, but not required. Trauma training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of word processing programs and basic Microsoft Office programs.
  • Valid Driver’s license and ability to transport residents in a TR vehicle.
  • Desire and ability to set personal goals to improve on oneself, including a priority for self-care.

Job Description:

The Overnight Advocate is to develop and maintain functional relationships with the residents in an advocacy capacity, which encourages each client to attain the highest degree of success and positive change through teaching, advising and supporting. The overnight advocate will help meet the specialized needs of the residents and work in collaboration with, and support day staff in meeting those specific needs. The overnight advocate provides trauma-informed care to support residents. Overnight staff assists and supports day staff by completing various administrative and household duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Overnight Advocate work overnight shifts in the safe home directly interacting with residents and is awake and available to support residents as needed during sleeping hours.
  • Provide clients with a safe and supportive environment; through functional, healthy, appropriate boundaries and balanced relationships, which demonstrate the love of Christ. All staff are responsible to assist in promoting a high quality of learning, skill building and self-discovery for each client.
  • Overnight staff are expected to monitor the house/residents, doing checks on an hourly basis.
  • Provide supportive documentation and charting duties along with occasional household duties such as meal prep and cleaning as assigned or needed.
  • Overnight Advocate is responsible for being knowledgeable on the client’s individual case plan and goals and works to encourage and assist them in meeting those goals.
  • All staff are expected to maintain strict confidentiality outside of the organization concerning any client information.
  • Overnight Advocate is responsible to respond to crisis calls and complete documentation of those calls.
  • Responsible for knowing and carrying out the mission and purpose of Terebinth Refuge as determined by the Board of Directors.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with, instruct, guide and support individuals who are considered at risk and traumatized.
  • A BS/BA or, Associates degree or working towards in a social service field and or 2 years’ experience, is strongly encouraged. The 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy training is required and can be offered as part of their Terebinth Refuge training.
  • Knowledge of or experience in advocacy and or working with professionals in mental health, corrections, the criminal justice and other social service systems.
  • Knowledge of word processing programs and basic Microsoft Office programs.

  • Experience with trauma victims preferred, but not required.
